Description

We are pleased to announce that we are seeking qualified applicants for temporary Elementary Support Instructors (PE/Movement, EL, Enrichment, Special Education) for our Elementary Summer Camp held at two RSD elementary campuses. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team that supports the efforts of making success possible for all Redmond students. 

 

Individuals selected will organize and plan supplementary activities focusing on PE/movement, English Language Supports, team building and other Enrichment opportunities (music, art, STEAM) for the three-week Summer Camp as well as support building based managerial needs. We are seeking licensed educators, who are highly motivated to work with students and can build relationships and coherent support lessons that encourage student agency, growth mindset and SEL. We are seeking an educator highly organized and experienced with leadership responsibilities.

 

Timeframe:

  • Required teacher professional development will be FOUR 2.5-hour sessions (TBD in May/June) and ONE 7 hr session July 28th
  • Elementary Summer Camp will run three weeks; 
    • Week 1: Aug 14
    • Week 2: August 8-11
    • Week 3: August 15-18
  • Summer Camp will run four days a week (Monday through Thursday) from tentatively 9:00 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.
    • Students day tentatively 9:00 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.
    • Teachers will be present tentatively 8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. (conduct additional prep with team-teachers as needed either before or after student day, as determined by the team of teachers)

 

Qualified candidates will have the following minimum qualifications:  

  • Hold a current TSPC license for teaching 
  • Experience building relationships with youth.
  • A commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • A commitment to utilizing leadership strategies to engage students in school activities.
  • A commitment to professional collaboration.
  • A commitment to building and maintaining relationships with at-risk youth.
  • A high level of knowledge, skills, and expertise related to curriculum and instruction in the area of meeting the needs of all students.   
  • A high level understanding of the resources available to support students with diverse learning needs, including; special education, Talented and Gifted, English Language Learners and the effects of poverty.
  • Proficient teaching practices.
  • Leadership skills and abilities.
  • Experience in effectively communicating with families. 
  • Success in maintaining organizational systems.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Attend 5 required sessions of district professional development (four 2.5-hour session in May/June and one 7-hour session July 29th)
  • Teach three weeks of summer school in August
  • Develop and collaboratively plan engaging lessons that are rooted in growth mindset and developing student agency
  • Support in organization, management and daily leadership duties at assigned building.

What is the goal?

The goal of Summer Camp is to support and engage elementary students in mental, emotional and academic wellbeing. Instruction will focus on hands-on, engaging learning designed to develop team building, growth mindset and student agency, providing students a jumpstart of success for the return of school in the fall 2022.

What does summer school mean for me as a teacher?

 

Schedule:

  • Summer school will run four days a week Monday through Thursday 
    • Student Day: ~9:00 a.m. – 2:50 p.m. 
    • Teacher Day: ~8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. 
    • Week 1: Aug. 1-4, Week 2: Aug. 8-11, Week 3: Aug. 15-18

 

What is the structure?

Two RSD elementary campuses will be utilized for Summer Camp servicing incoming elementary aged children of the Redmond School District. Approximately FOURTEEN classroom teachers will be at each site pending enrollment needs. Approximately FIVE additional Licensed Support Staff at each site.  Teachers will teach a grade level themed STEAM instruction in a hands-on learning environment. Strategically focusing instruction on engagement, growth mindset and building student agency. 

 

What is the schedule of professional development?

  • 4 Sessions (two and a half hours each) of PD that will take place in May/June (TBD)
  • SEVEN hours of building inservice and classroom setup of July 29th
  • PD will focus on lesson planning, mindsets and classroom set up.
