Description The special education leadership team’s purpose is to identify and align the work of the Student Services Department to RSD’s vision and mission: “Thriving Students, Engaged Community, Ready Graduates”; To share information, updates, discuss current & future needs; To create or improve on districtwide systems; To provide consistent messaging among groups within the department
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the district’s special education leadership team.
- Lead positively in an effort to impact district culture and quality which consequently creates environments where students can flourish.
- Be willing to reach out and share learning and information with others (great educators do not keep their effective practices to themselves; they spread that knowledge to others in order to benefit all students).
- Participate in system change and transformations that are necessary for district improvement for the benefit of students and the profession.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and other stakeholders about district leadership meetings, district performance plan goals & strategies for growth
- Demonstrate initiative in engaging colleagues in activities that will lead to staff engagement, effecting a positive change in practices evolving students with disabilities
- Serve as a resource to educators in understanding best practices and special education regulations
- Attend meetings and training outside of the regular contract day both in the assigned school and at the district level.
- Lead team discussions around improving instructional practices and student growth
