There will be one New Teacher Liaison assigned to each elementary, middle and high school.  Please contact your principal for additional information about this position.

JOB SUMMARY

The position serves as a liaison to new teachers in the building who may need support as they strive for establishing a proficient teaching practice. Successful liaisons have many essential aptitudes, but above all, they are exceptional educators with a track record of fostering significant student learning gains for all in diverse settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Employees holding this temporary assignment may perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned as necessitated by the mentee or supervising administrator.

 

  1. Support newly hired teachers in improving their ability to equitably access core curriculum.
  2. Support newly hired teachers in identifying and addressing the needs of special student populations including but not limited to English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities. 
  3. Attends Liaison meetings and training outside of standard hours. 
  4. Demonstrates standards-based lessons and differentiated strategies that address the needs of all learners. 
  5. Observes newly hired teachers and provides feedback (not to be used for evaluative purposes).
  6. Provide a variety of professional development activities in order to promote the learning and growth of a teacher. 
  7. Collaborate with newly hired teachers and other colleagues to construct exemplary standards-based lessons that address the needs of all learners. 
  8. Provides a school-level orientation for newly hired teachers within the first days of school. 
  9. Provides ongoing support and knowledge of both the profession and building systems throughout the school year. Including but not limited to utilization of the student information system, curricular platforms, report card processes, and additional district and building events and systems. 
  10. Is a role model in all aspects of professionalism. 
  11. Supports and counsels newly hired teachers as it relates to their professional practice. 
  12. Assists with preparation of standards-based lessons; interprets and uses curriculum materials and guides; organizing classroom procedures; and reviews school and district policies and procedures. 
  13. Support newly hired teachers in developing student learning and growth goals. 
  14. Checks in routinely with newly hired teachers to discuss teaching practice. 
  15. Retains all information from newly hired teacher pairing as privileged communication. 
  16. Completes other duties as assigned.
