JOB SUMMARY

This teacher leader position is designed to provide support and assistance toward meeting the performance plan goals at the assigned school. This position may take on different specific responsibilities which are identified in the next section. Individuals that hold a teacher leader position will not be the primary person responsible for each area listed below, but will focus on areas that capitalize upon personal areas of strength while providing input and collaboration on each of the different areas.

 

It is estimated that the teacher leader will spend one to two hours per week completing the essential functions of their leadership role.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a member of the principal’s school leadership team.
  • Lead positively in an effort to impact school culture and quality which consequently creates environments where students can flourish.
  • Be willing to reach out and share great teaching with others (great teachers do not keep their effective practices to themselves; they spread that knowledge to others in order to benefit all students).
  • Participate in system change and transformations that are necessary for school improvement for the benefit of students and the profession.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and other stakeholders about school leadership meetings, school performance plan goals & strategies for achievement.
  • Demonstrate initiative in engaging colleagues in activities that will lead to improved student achievement.
  • Serve as a resource to educators in the student learning and growth goals development process.
  • Attend meetings and training outside of the regular contract day both in the assigned school and at the district level.
  • Provide updates to Redmond Education Association councils as opportunities arise on the educator effectiveness system.
  • Participate in PTC meetings and occasional evening school events during the school year.
  • Lead team discussions around improving instructional practices and assessment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional reflection and continuous professional growth.

  • Technical skills (web-based applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated success in facilitating small groups.
  • Demonstrated success as a reliable team member.
  • Must hold a valid Oregon Teaching License.


COMPENSATION

The compensation begins on the October paycheck.
